Northern's Mathematics and Physical Science Department offers the math background needed for most STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) disciplines.
We offer associate and bachelor's degrees in mathematics and teach a complete spectrum of courses, including: Developmental Math; College Algebra, Statistics and Trigonometry; Calculus I, II, III; Discrete Mathematics, Real and Complex Analysis, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Elements of Mathematical Statistics and Probability Theory, Numerical Analysis, Linear Algebra, Physics, Astronomy, and Geology..
Career Outlook for Mathematics Majors
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, math occupations are expected to grow 29% from 2021 to 2031, which is much faster than other occupations.
Popular careers in mathematics include: Actuary, Computer Programmer, Game Designer, Mathematical Biologist, Operations Research Analyst, Statistician, Research Scientist, careers in Cryptography and Security, and teaching in high school and college.
