Language & Letters (LL)

Welcome to Language & Letters (LL)

The Department of Language & Letters at Northern New Mexico College provides graduates with a solid Liberal Arts foundation, critical thinking and writing skills, and the values and ethical background necessary for becoming active, productive, and successful members of society.

Clear expression through writing and speaking empowers individual voices and enables meaningful connections between us. Critically engaging with literature in all its forms fosters appreciation for diverse perspectives and allows us to grow. Language & Letters supports students in their journey to develop their communication and critical thinking skills, so that they can embrace a sense of belonging and an appreciation for the value of all life.

Mission Statement

Language & Letters provides an in-depth examination of the relationship between power and language in developing critical and creative thinking skills for thoughtful communication dedicated to engaged citizenship and social change.
