How to Obtain Accessibility Services

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING SERVICES

MEETING: If you are planning to use accommodations in your college classes and/or for the college’s placement exam, you should contact the Accessibility Resource Center as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made in a timely manner to complete an application.

DOCUMENTATION: You must provide documentation by a qualified professional who made an individualized assessment or evaluation of your exceptionality. Appropriate documentation may include a letter from a qualified professional or evidence of a prior diagnosis, accommodation, or classification, such as eligibility for a special education program or IEP/ISP, or other state agency.

After assessing your documentation, we will make an appropriate accommodation plan for your classes.  We will assess the effectiveness of this plan throughout the semester.  This plan may be modified if you find that certain accommodations are either insufficient or unnecessary.  Accommodation requirements will be communicated via a letter of accommodation that you will share and discuss with relevant instructors and includes assistance with learning strategies and/or AT equipment..

ACCOMMODATIONS: Academic accommodations help remove certain obstacles for students with exceptionalities, and provide equal opportunity for students to complete course work and succeed in finishing their degree plan.
