America Reads - Reading & Math Tutors

Job Title: Math & Reading Tutors (k-12 grade)

Description:

Providing tutoring and supervision of reading participants in afterschool program. Must assist mentoring program staff in providing reading services to youth ages 5 -13. Must be able to track and assist in keeping files of youth assisted and their progress. Must be willing to clean up their designated area of workplace. Must assist in ordering of or providing materials for reading participants.

Minimum qualifications:

Must be awarded FEDERAL Work study through Northern’s Financial Aid Office.

Eagle Cafe - Cashier

Job Title: Cashier

Description: Operates a cash register, receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers. Maintains proper security of cash. Sets up stations with condiments and utensils, serves and replenishes food from counters and breaks down stations at the end of the meal period. Cleans and maintains work areas, including floors, facilities, utensils, and equipment, collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers. Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Fine Arts - Fine Arts & Events Assistant

Job Title:  Fine Arts & Events Publicity Assistant

Description:

Student will assist Department directors, faculty, and staff with creating and distributing publicity and brochures for department promotional materials, exhibits, and events. Occasional assisting art instructors with class set up of materials before and after classes.  Duties also may include assisting with gallery set up & take down for monthly exhibits, campus displays, and end of semester Showcases, as well as sitting in the gallery to keep exhibits open during regular hours. May also be required to assist in Fine Arts office with a variety of clerical assignments and preparation for the NCNMMEA Orchestra Competition. Skill Required: Good interpersonal skills, organizational and computer skills (Word, Publisher, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator). Marketing and PR experience is a plus.

Match New Mexico - Reading Tutor

Job Title:  Match NM Reading Tutor
Department Name: EEMA Match New Mexico
Hourly Rate: Community Service Hours or $10/via Work Study

Description:

Serve as a reading mentor for a 3rd or 4th grade student at Hernandez Elementary in an afterschool program, 3-5 pm two days (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) per week for the entire semester. Enroll in ENGR/BIOL 399, Mentoring and Leadership Seminar. This required one credit hour course is offered Wednesdays from 12:30 – 1:20 pm. It will provide you with mentoring and leadership skills and give you an opportunity to reflect on your ongoing mentoring with your cohort of fellow mentors. Accommodations will be made for time conflicts with this course. Arrive at Hernandez Elementary prior to 3 pm, greet your mentee and the rest of group. Wash hands and have a snack, physical activity, mentee’s choice of finishing school work together or reading to each other. Play a game, more reading and writing, activity of student’s choice. Clean up and make plans for next meeting.

Minimum qualifications:

Must be awarded FEDERAL Work study through Northern’s Financial Aid Office if compensated via Work Study. Applicant must pass an FBI background check and a drug test. The costs of the check and test will be covered by the Espanola Public Schools and its partners.
