CAMP Student Leaders

Joshua M. López • joshua.lopez@nnmc.edu
BAIS Psychology May 2021 • Completed the program in 2019

Josh became a student leader because he wanted to give back to CAMP, which showed him that he is capable of leading others through the challenges and obstacles they may face while starting college. He loves the overall CAMP module and how the program runs overall. His favorite part of the program is that CAMP is part of an association, meaning that there are other CAMP programs national-wide, including Puerto Rico!

Nancy Archuleta • nancy_r_archuleta@nnmc.edu
Sophomore in Early Childhood Education • Completed the program in 2020

Nancy became a Leader because she wanted the opportunity to help other students the way her Leader and the CAMP program helped her. She wanted to give back to the program that helped and supported her so much her first year of college, and even to this day, even though she is no longer in the program, she can still go to them for help, and they don’t hesitate to help her. She feels it is important for students to have a leader to help them get through the first year. They don’t understand a lot of stuff because it is all new to them, and us as leaders take that responsibility to see that they do what needs to be done to get through the first year and be ready for the next.

Andrea Rae Fernandez • andrea_r_fernandez@nnmc.edu
Sophomore in Business Administration • Completed the program in 2021

Andrea became a leader because she had a great experience being a CAMP student last year. Her first year of college went by fast and easy because she had the help and support of CAMP. She had the support from Staff, tutors, Student leaders and other faculty members. They were all there to help her in the best way that they could when it came to any problems she was having in college. CAMP offered her a lot of opportunities when it came to needing extra tutoring, scholarship opportunities, internships, etc... She became a CAMP leader because she wanted to offer the first year college students the same experience that she was offered from CAMP. Her Student leader from last year was very helpful for her when she was getting through my first year and she wants to help other students the same way.

Sheena M. Lewis • Sheena_m_lewis@nnmc.edu
Junior in Environmental Science • Completed the program in 2019
Sheena became a leader because while she was in CAMP I fell in love with the family feel and the support here. She enjoys being a part of the CAMP family. What she likes the best about CAMP is the support you get just in the pursuit of your dreams. Everyone is cheering you on and wishing you all the success that you can achieve. It’s a good place to be.
