Ashis Nandy, PhD

Dr. Ashis Nandy is an Associate professor and the Chair of the Department of Engineering and Technology at the Northern New Mexico College, Espanola, New Mexico. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2012. He has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, India, and a MS degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, respectively. After completing his BS degree, Dr. Nandy served in the industry and worked as an Engineer at Tata Motors Ltd., Pune, India.

Dr. Nandy joined Northern New Mexico College as an Assistant Professor in 2012, and was granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2018. His teaching and research interests include fluid-thermal sciences, mechanics, mechanical design, computer aided-design, and engineering education. He has published his work in journals and conferences and has served as a reviewer for ASME, ASEE and NSF. Dr. Nandy had served as a Co-Principal Investigator of an NSF S-STEM project, and as the Principal Investigator of an NSF IUSE project. Dr. Nandy also serves as the Program Evaluator for the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET.
