ABOUT UB:

Upward Bound Española was established in 2017 to serve first-generation college-bound students from Española Valley High School. Our program serves a minimum of 60 Sundevils per year in cohorts of approximately 15 students per grade. During the school year, UB scholars participate in afterschool tutoring and extracurricular activities, college visits, Saturday Academy enrichment programs, dual credit coursework, and college admissions seminars.

Funded by US Department of Education

UB Española is proudly funded by a grant from the US Department of Education under the Federal TRIO Programs. This support enables us to provide vital educational opportunities and resources to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them achieve their academic and career aspirations. Our program focuses on empowering participants through comprehensive services, including academic advising, tutoring, college preparation, and financial literacy education.

Davis New Mexico Scholarship Network

UB Española proudly affiliates with the Davis New Mexico Scholarship Network, dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for first-generation college students in New Mexico. Founded in 2014, the network has awarded over $27 million in scholarships and boasts a 90% 4-year graduation rate, significantly surpassing the national average. Together with UB Española, they're transforming lives and shaping a brighter future for New Mexico's youth.
