Northern offers a comprehensive spectrum of courses, from Developmental Math to advanced subjects like Real and Complex Analysis. Curriculum includes College Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, III, Discrete Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, and Geology. The Math Center of Excellence supports students with tutoring, exploration of mathematical concepts, and research projects. We are the only open-admissions institution offering a BS in Mathematics.

AS - Associate of Science in Mathematics:

The AS in Mathematics at Northern is a two-year program that covers foundational topics such as algebra, calculus, and statistics. It equips students with essential analytical and problem-solving skills, preparing them for entry-level positions like data entry clerks, lab technicians, or operations assistants, and serves as a stepping stone to transfer to a four-year program such as our BS in mathematics or related STEM fields.

BS - Bachelor of Science in Mathematics:

The BS in Mathematics at Northern is a four-year program offering advanced study in areas like discrete mathematics, real analysis, and complex analysis. Our focus on applied mathematics prepares students for careers in data science, engineering, finance, and academia. Graduates gain strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, positioning them for high-level roles or further studies in mathematics and related disciplines.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities:

Students can participate in original research projects, made possible by funding through the Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) Program and the NM-INBRE Grant. These projects allow students work alongside experienced faculty, present at student conferences, and prepare for graduate and career opportunities.
