HLC Accreditation
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is one of six regional associations that provide accreditation for institutions of higher learning in the United States. HLC accreditation provides assurance to the public that an institution has been found to meet stated requirements and criteria. The accreditation process provides public certification of acceptable institutional quality and an opportunity for critical self-analysis, quality improvement, evaluation, and consultation from other higher education professionals. Regional accreditation is required for institutions to receive Title IV funding (financial aid for students) and to ensure that our coursework and degrees are accepted by other institutions of higher learning and employers.
Northern New Mexico College underwent a mid-cycle Assurance Review in June 2020, culminating with the College’s institutional accreditation being extended under the Open Pathway process by the Higher Learning Commission for five years. The next Comprehensive Evaluation is scheduled to occur November 17-18, 2025.

HLC Comprehensive Evaluation Visit
NNMC is on the Higher Learning Commission’s Standard Pathway, a 10-year accreditation cycle, which will culminate in a site visit and comprehensive evaluation set for November 17-18, 2025.
