Teacher Education Scholarships Now Available!

Northern's Department of Teacher Education is awarding scholarships for the Spring 2021 semester to students pursuing degrees in Teacher Education. The Teacher Preparation Affordability Scholarship and the Grow Your Own Teachers Scholarship are available to help defray the educational expenses including tuition, fees, books and course supplies.

Applications are due no later than Friday, December 4, 2020.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  • Complete and submit a 2020-21 FASFA application.  The completed application must be on file with the Financial Aid Office to be considered for scholarship renewal.  Even if you don't think you will qualify, the FASFA application must be on file.  If you need help with the FASFA application, please contact -finaid@nnmc.edu   Please do not contact the Education Department with questions on Financial Aid, we do not have access to information concerning FASFA.
  • You must be an Education student in good standing and making progress towards program completion. You must be enrolled in Education courses.
  • Please complete the short application and submit. All applications are due by December 4, 2020.

Grow Your Own Teachers

The “Grow Your Own Teachers Act” seeks to provide opportunities for educational assistants to pursue careers in teaching in New Mexico by providing scholarship opportunities for educational assistants who may want to attend a public post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico to earn a bachelor’s degree in education.The program provides for professional leave and scholarship awards to qualified educational assistants.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
