President Barceló to Leave Her Post at the End of the Year

Española, NM - During a special meeting last night, Northern's Board of Regents announced that President Nancy Barceló will leave her leadership position with the College on December 31. Originally, President Barceló was scheduled to end her presidency in June of 2016.

“The Regents and President Barceló agreed together that she will leave her leadership position with the College on the last day of December,” stated Board President, Rosario Garcia. “The President requested the opportunity to leave early and begin her sabbatical sooner, and we collectively agreed.”

Following Garcia’s statement, a motion was approved to appoint Domingo Sanchez as Interim President during the College’s search for President Barceló’s successor. Sanchez, who currently serves as Northern’s Vice President for Finance and Administration, will assume his interim post on January 1.
