Española, NM – Northern New Mexico College is partnering with Rio Arriba County and La Tierra Montessori Charter School for the Arts and Sciences to provide instructional space for students as renovations to Charter’s new facility are completed.
Northern has signed an agreement with La Tierra to lease classroom space for the charter school’s kindergarteners and seventh and eighth graders through December, 2014. Rio Arriba County will continue to provide additional instructional spaces at the Oñate Monument and Visitors Center in Alcalde, NM.
“This is an opportunity to help La Tierra Charter grow and continue to offer local students and parents with a Montessori education,” Northern’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement Ricky Serna said.
The local charter school currently serves 100 students from kindergarten to eighth grade and will transition to its new facility in the former John F. Kennedy Junior High School located on the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo.
