Northern Foundation Day Celebrated at State Legislature

Northern New Mexico College Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that raises funds to support scholarships and other college initiatives, received special recognition at this year's legislative session in Santa Fe. During the fifty-second legislature second session, Senator Richard C. Martinez introduced Senate Memorial 14 proclaiming February 11, 2016 “Northern New Mexico College Foundation Day” in the senate.

"It was heartening to see how our senators value education and believe in the opportunities we are providing to students," said Foundation Executive Director Terry Mulert.

After Senate Memorial 14 was read on the senate floor, several senators rose to offer words in support of the Northern Foundation and its important work in the region, including Senator Richard C. Martinez (D-District 5, Española), Senator Carlos R. Cisneros (D-District 6, Questa), Senator Howie C. Morales (D-District 28, Silver City), Senator Michael Padilla (D-District 14, Albuquerque), and Senator Nancy Rodriguez (D-District 24, Santa Fe). The senators' comments touched on the good work of the Foundation as well as the growth and positive steps ahead of the College.

College representatives present for the Northern Foundation Day event included Mulert, Interim President Domingo Sanchez and Head Coach and Athletic Director Ryan Cordova.
