The event marked the beginning of a promising academic journey for the new Eagles, who were introduced to the wealth of resources and support available to them at NNMC.

NNMC President Hector Balderas delivered an inspirational keynote address, recounting his remarkable journey from growing up in the small town of Wagon Mound, New Mexico, to achieving significant professional milestones. Balderas shared his experiences of overcoming adversity in a community without a lawyer, eventually serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, the NM State Auditor, and the NM Attorney General before becoming the President of Northern New Mexico College. Balderas' story of perseverance and determination resonated deeply with the new students, serving as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. He encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them and to remain steadfast in their pursuit of success.

<media_c/><media_e>milam.shah@nnmc.edu</media_e>
