New Mexico Student Filmmaker Showcase Highlights Northern FDMA Talent

Two Northern student-produced films will be featured at the New Mexico Film Foundation’s 2019 New Mexico Student Filmmaker Showcase Saturday, September 21 at 2 p.m. at the Kimo Theater in Albuquerque.

Exit, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock, was written and directed by FDMA graduate Aaron Lopez, who is now pursuing his four year degree at Northern in Self Design, Empahsis Anthropology. Sam Herrera, also an FDMA graduate, acted in Exit along with FDMA major Sharon Henderson.

Nothin, a music video, was produced by Dominic Manzanares along with his son Isa, both Northern students. Sadly, we lost Dominic, Isa and Dominic's youngest, Ventura, last year, three days before Dominic was to graduate with his FDMA major. These people live on in our hearts and in their work.

The showcase highlights the talent coming out of New Mexico’s numerous film and media programs. Nine colleges from across New Mexico submitted a total of 28 videos, 13 of which were chosen for the festival. Student filmmakers from across the state will connect during the event and network with other institutions for future projects.   Each New Mexico Post-Secondary school was invited to submit up to 3 student videos of no more than 15 minutes each, plus and optional special effects reel of up to 1 minute in length.
