NNMC Presidential Search 2022

Northern New Mexico College Presidential Search

President Richard Bailey announced in November 2021, that he would be leaving Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) January 15, 2022 to accept a position as President of Southern Oregon University. We are grateful to President Bailey for his vision and tireless efforts to help NNMC thrive and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

During his five-year tenure, President Bailey and our committed team of faculty and staff put NNMC on sound financial footing and expanded student enrollment. He rallied support for legislative action to create a co-located Branch Community College, and for a Mill Levy to re-introduce technical trades programs at NNMC and revitalize our historic El Rito campus. He cultivated collaboration with many partners, including the new Collaborative for Higher Education Shared Services (CHESS) with four other New Mexico institutions of higher education.

We are seeking a new president who will fulfill President Bailey’s promise that NNMC's best days are yet to come—someone with the vision, commitment, heart and skills to lead Northern into the future. We are looking for someone who both connects with our uniquely Northern New Mexican values and culture, and who can steer our academic programs into competitive footing on the regional and national stage.

NNMC has assembled a search committee comprised of NNMC faculty, staff, students and a broad array of community members dedicated to NNMC’s continuing success. Board of Regents President Michael A. Martin and Secretary/Treasurer Porter Swentzell, PhD, will co-chair the committee as it works with our presidential search firm, Comprehensive Consulting Services, LLC, to identify and evaluate the most highly qualified candidates.

The committee is committed to a transparent selection process and to soliciting input on both the characteristics the NNMC community wants the next president to possess and the priorities they want the next president to tackle. We welcome input from all stakeholders via email at presidentialsearch@nnmc.edu.

If you support NNMC’s mission, vision and values and have the skills and experience we are looking for, we encourage you to contact us. Recommendations from individuals who wish to nominate candidates are also welcome.

Stay tuned to this page and to NNMC’s social media for updates on the presidential search process and for opportunities to be involved.
