New Student Orientation is a great place to meet your new classmates and receive important information from Northern academic advisors about how to get started and stay on track for a successful college experience.

  • Learn about student resources
  • Get an overview of Financial aid
  • Tour the campus
  • Register for classes
  • Get your student ID
  • Set up a payment plan
  • Get your books and materials.

All new students and transfer students with fewer than 12 credit hours are required (and continuing students are encouraged) to meet with an academic advisor before registering for classes. Your advisor can help you:

  • Choose a major and explore career options
  • Complete a course preference schedule
  • Create a realistic and attainable education plan
  • Review the requirements for graduation and your chosen major
  • Remove any advisement holds on your account

Northern offers over 50 bachelor's, associate and certificate programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math); Nursing and Health Sciences; Liberal Arts and Humanities; Arts, Film & Media; Business Administration; Teacher Education and Technical Trades.
