Info Session: Student Leadership Opportunities at Northern

  • 1:30 pm

Dear Students,
I hope your semester is off to a good start.  I am reaching out to you to see if you are interested in serving as a student leader for this academic year.

There are a number of positions open including the officers in Student Senate, along with the Student Body President (i.e President of the Student Senate) and the Student Regent (student representative to the Board of Regents).  The latter two positions have some impressive scholarship money attached.

To be considered for the Student Senate President, you must have served previously in the Student Senate; to be the Student Regent there are criteria which I will explain in the meeting.  I believe both of these positions require you to be a student in good social and academic standing, full-time, and a current second year student or older (in this case, I believe it means you must be a returning student to Northern who has been a full-time student the year before).  For Senate Officers and general Senators, you need to be a Full Time student; first year students are welcome to apply!

Student Leadership is an amazing opportunity to engage with the broader campus community, represent your fellow Eagles, and learn a lot about leading and serving, which will enrich you throughout your career.  As a former student body president and former student representative to the Board of Visitors at my alma mater, I have expanded on what I learned in these positions and it has led me to a career of leadership in my field.  The same is true for many of the student leaders I have advised throughout the years.

We are holding an interest meeting this Tuesday, September 15th at 1:30 pm (Mountain Time) to discuss the criteria needed to apply. If you are interested, please join us at the appropriate time at the link below
