SUMMARY
Shared responsibility to collect & disseminate information on post-secondary education with a shared goal of recruiting 850 participants in our service area/target area of 30,000 square miles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, identify & select up to 350 eligible adult participants who are low-income, first-generation college-bound, age 19 and over
- Provide advisement, direct referral, & follow-up to 55% of the eligible adults who have not obtained a high school diploma so they will enroll in GED (HEP)/ABE
- Provide financial aid application assistance to 95% of the eligible adult participants not already enrolled in a post-secondary school
- Assist 60% of the eligible adult participants who are not already enrolled in a post-secondary school with the admissions process
- Assist all eligible adult participants not already enrolled in a post-secondary school with follow-up services, in order for them to complete the necessary steps to enroll
- Provide post-secondary advisement, career orientation, and job outlook assistance to 60% of all adult participants in order for them to choose a program of study
- Maintain outreach sites throughout the area assigned and develop formal relationships with all federal, tribal, state, county, city, town, village agencies
- Provide monthly reports on all monthly outreach & client activities
- Organize & participate in area career, financial aid, job, and college fairs
- Coordinate all EOC activities with assigned school districts in the service area of responsibility and provide EOC services to all high school seniors
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field
- Must be computer literate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred knowledge of the federal financial aid process
- Three to five years’ experience in higher education outreach, recruiting or advising in financial aid
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior TRiO experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability and experience working with adults, high school students and individuals from all economic, cultural, academic, and social backgrounds
- Must have tolerance for ambiguity and ability to be self-driven/self-starting with minimal supervision
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Travel will be required

- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily in an office setting
- Work will be performed in various locations under different conditions
