
Northern New Mexico College and the College of Education have scholarships available for students in the Elementary, Early Childhood, and Alternative Licensure Programs.
Applicants can receive up to $3,000 per semester, or $6,000 per year to be used toward tuition, fees, books, course materials, and living expenses. Awards will begin for the Spring 2020 semester and are dependent on student need and anticipated contribution to the teaching profession.
General Eligibility Requirements (for all scholarships)
- Students must be enrolled half time (6 credits or more) in the Department of Teacher Education, in either the Elementary, Early Childhood, or Alternative Licensure Program.
- Students must be New Mexico residents
- Students must complete an online application, including reference contact and essay, no later than Friday, November 22 at 5 p.m. MST.
Specific Eligibility Requirements
Teacher Preparation Affordability Scholarship
The Teacher Preparation Affordability Scholarship is available to New Mexico residents who are enrolled at least half-time in a teacher preparation program, have demonstrated financial need, and have not previously attained licensure as a teacher by the NM Public Education Department. Depending upon need, awarded students may receive up to $3,000 per semester, or $6,000 per academic year that may be used toward tuition, fees, books, course supplies, and living expenses.
