NNMC COVID-19 Information   [Learn More]

The Androip app created by Dr. Alfredo Perez and former student Povi Cruz has been recently highlighted by the Albuquerque Journal (http://www.abqjournal.com/252108/abqnewsseeker/nm-college-professor-stud...). The Power of Solar Energy app provides real time data from PNM’s solar storage project. The app also includes basics about solar energy and solar photovoltaic systems. It’s available for Android devices and a version for Apple devices is in the works. Professor Alfredo Perez says the goal was to create an app to educate the public about electricity generation using solar energy. He also wanted to show how PNM’s Prosperity Project works. The 500-kilowatt solar installation uses batteries to store energy produced during the day and is able to compensate for fluctuations that would otherwise create problems on the grid
