RN to BSN program awarded Nurse Excellence Grant
Northern's RN to BSN program receives Nurse Excellence Grant
Northern's RN to BSN program has been awarded $20,500 from the New Mexico Board of Nursing's 'Nurse Excellence Fund' to provide scholarships for students.
The grant will provide ten RN to BSN students with $2,050 of tuition support for the Spring 2014 semester. Both new and returning students in the program will be eligible for these scholarships.
"The goal is really to increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared nurses," College of Nursing and Health Sciences Dean Ellen Trabka said.
Healthcare is one of the state's fastest growing industries and further growth is expected following the implementation of national healthcare reform.
The RN to BSN program at Northern is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has been generating qualified nurses since 2008. This is the program's third year receiving the grant.
