SUMMARY: Under supervision and direction, performs custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming floors and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking bathrooms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all cleaning in all areas of building and floor area such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and polishing.
Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.
Collects trash from receptacles and empty into designated areas.
Clean porches, entrances, and windows of buildings.
May assist with snow removal activities.
Assists with setting up rooms or areas for meetings or extracurricular events.
Change light bulbs when directed.
Checks and secures all windows and doors when directed.
Reports maintenance problems to appropriate supervisor.
Clean, store and perform routine preventative maintenance on custodial equipment.
May supervise work-study student.
Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Must have the ability to demonstrate one year experience performing various routine custodial functions. Must obtain a current and valid NM driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Ability to follow simple oral and/or written directions.
Ability to observe and use safe working conditions.
Ability to use and care for custodial supplies, chemicals and equipment.
Ability to use a ladder.
Ability to lift and carry equipment and furniture of moderate weights regularly.
Ability to operate a buffer, small tools and related equipment.
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
