Northern’s RN to BSN program is a unique and innovative curriculum based on Dr. Barbara Dossey’s Theory of Integral Nursing (2008). Integral Nursing Theory is designed to complement principles of holistic nursing, human caring, and healing. With an integrative-care focus, our program prepares nurses to provide holistic, intentional, relationship-centered care that addresses individual and collective health.

Nurses in Northern’s program are committed to engaging in intentional, caring, reflective practice that involves continuous self-assessment and holistic self-care. Graduates of Northern’s RN to BSN program will use the Theory of Integral Nursing and the American Nurses Association & American Holistic Nurses Association Holistic Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice to provide integral and holistic nursing care in a variety of settings.

CCNE Third Party Comments

In preparation for an on-site accreditation review scheduled for April 11-13, 2016 by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Northern's RN to BSN Program is seeking third party comments from the public about the program’s qualifications for accreditation status. The evaluation team will review the RN to BSN Program’s ability to meet CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Degree Nursing Programs (amended 2013). CCNE, an autonomous accrediting entity, is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to accredit baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs.

Written and signed third-party comments will be accepted by CCNE until March 21, 2016. CCNE shares third-party comments with members of the evaluation team before the visit, but at no time with the RN to BSN Program.

The public is invited to submit comments to:
