3rd Annual ¡Sostenga! Garlic Fest

King and Queen of the Garlic FestivalThe ¡Sostenga! Center's 3rd Annual Garlic Harvest Festival took place on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011, from 6 am to 2:30 pm, at the ¡Sostenga! student-run garlic farm (next to the JCI Building at 1021 Railroad Ave in Española, NM).

Over 200 participants enjoyed great music, food and celebration of northern New Mexico's agricultural heritage with Northern's ¡Sostenga! Center for Sustainable Food, Agriculture & Environment.

As part of the festival, teams competed to harvest the most garlic and there was a silent auction with prizes donated by local businesses. This year's sponsors include Angelina's, Anthony's at the Delta, Black Mesa Golf Club, Blue Window Bistro, Bodes Store, BODY of Santa Fe, Center Market, DeVargas Funeral Home, Floral Expressions, La Cocina Restaurant, McDonalds, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, Ortiz' Gallery, Rancho De Chimayo, Red Door, Rio Grande Insurance, Santa Fe Country Club, Valley Superette, The Water Store, Trujillo's Gallery, and Whole Foods Market.
