September is Suicide Prevention Month

You will learn strategies on: 

 * How to help someone going through a mental health crisis, and the MHFA teaches  a five-step action plan, called ALGEE, for individuals to provide help to someone who may be in crisis:

Assess for risk of suicide or harm
Listen nonjudgmentally
Give reassurance and information
Encourage appropriate professional help
Encourage self-help and other support strategies

COURSE OBJECTIVES: 
1. TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP WAYS TO HELP STUDENTS GAIN ACCESSIBILITY TO MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, IMPROVE PARENTING SKILLS, ADDRESS ADDICTION ISSUES, AND OBTAIN HEALTH EQUITY
2. TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE APPLICATION OF MHFA ON COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES IS IMPORTANT FOR OPTIMAL STUDENT HEALTH
