This program in Spanish fundamentals is an ideal combination of Spanish language instruction and an adventure in learning it. In northern New Mexico, you'll be exposed to a whole variety of Spanish culture where Spanish dialect dates back several hundred years. People refer to it as the "Quixotic" language. You'll learn Spanish as a second language while living, eating and playing - with total immersion in a Spanish environment. There will be activities to help you use Spanish in practical ways. With emphasis on language instruction, aural comprehension and oral expression, you'll also have cultural excursions to enjoy northern New Mexico folklore and music, and learn much of the area's history.

Program in association with Northern New Mexico College and the El Rito Heritage Retreat Center.

Note: No public transportation to El Rito; fly into Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Physically demanding due to 6,790' elevation.

Accommodations: Modern Spanish-Style residence hall with private baths.
